NASA Project Management Challange

NASA Project Challenge is an annual conference for NASA Project Managers

2005 Conference

2004 Conference

There are a variety of papers, including agile and earned value. These sites are worth the effort, but remember this is a group that provides project management as a profession and as such takes the discipline of managing project very seriously. Not that other domains don't but here PM is a line function equivalent to engineering not an add on to keep score.

One interesting paper is titled "A Common Sense Approach to Project Management" in which many "agile" style terms are used:

  • The plan is only good during the first day
  • Timely decisions are critical to success
  • Open cooperative relationships are mandatory
  • Complex, over accurate metrics don't help
