Self Organizing versus Self Directed

There is always a discussion about Self Directed or Self Organizing teams. There is of course a major difference between Self Organizing, Self Managed, and Self Directed.

    My biased is against self directed in any environment outside personal development or development where you're spending your own money. If you're spending someone elses money self-directed says "we got you money and we'll do with as we please." I don't know what it means to be Self Managed in the presence of someone else money.
    Self organizing in the presence of someone eleses money is clear - "we'll optimize our organization to optimize the value returned from the money you gave us."
