In a planning meeting today someone piped up from the back - "we need some more planners." Good idea. We've got a 1,200 page Master Schedule, not many days to sort out all the horizontal linking and get it lined up with the vertical Events, Accomplishments, and Criteria.
So where would we get planners (PMs in civilian nomenclature)? Where would you get PM's in construction, manufacturing, ERP deployment projects? What would be the selection criteria? How could I tell that essentially a stranger can be trusted with my multi-million dollar project?
In the Agile Project Managment conversation these might be good questions. So far APM has worked hard to avoid the traditional vocabulary of project management. If APM is moving to non-software (as decided by the authors) style projects, these questions and their answers will become important.
