For any avid cyclist the Race Across America is a well know event. For those not acquainted with RAAM, it started in 1982 as the longest ultra-distance cycling event in the world. RAAM 2006 has many categories, but the men's solo event is one of the toughest around. The Tour de France, which starts next week is primarily a team activity.
The project management aspects on RAAM is huge, since getting both the cyclist and the crew across the United States in 11 or so days is a logistical nightmare without careful planning and nearly unlimited "plan B's."
