I do have a life outside of Program Planning and Controls!
Here in Colorado cycling is a very popular summer sport. The Garmin/Slipstream Tour de France team is based in Boulder. In the winter of course skiing and boarding takes over. With the rains gone, the road bikers are finally getting enough miles in to start the century rides.
Centuries are organized 100 mile rides of 100's to many 1,000's riders in our area. Some times fund raisers, some times sponsored events. Here's our first century of the season:
We're still early in the ride, so everyone has a smile on. We just climbed from the valley floor up to the top of a Dam. No a long climb, but two 10 degree switchbacks test the legs early in the day. Our son is on the right, me, two riding partners in the middle, and another son to the left.
The teenagers dropped us with 10 miles to go later in the day. They claimed we were not holding up our end of the bargain of maintaining our "all day" pace of 18 MPH.
Our son is riding my 1980 steel framed road bike. He actually fits it better than I ever did. No flats, several more killer climbs, a long pull home and we had a great day on the front range.
