We use a business management process from After Burner. This firm is lead by James Murphy, a former Air Force fighter pilot. This months newsletter speaks to Accountability and members of the team being accountable.
Personal Accountability is part of the team's success. The Afterburner method has 4 simple processes:
- Plan
- Brief
- Execute
- Debrief
This may sound familiar in the project management world, except for the "brief" and "debrief" parts.
The planning part is of special interest to me. The Afterburner© Planning consists of:
- Determine the mission objective
- Identify the threats
- Identify available and required resources
- Evaulate Lessons Learned
- Develop Course of Action
- Plan for Contingencies
So What's the Point?
When I hear the notion of "collective" ownership in an agile team principles of "collective ownership." In principle this is a bad idea for all kinds of reasons, not the least of which there is no single point of accountability.
