The key here is the conflicting - but mandatory - processes needed for project success. Much of the discussion arund improving management is based on theory and anecdote. The Making the Impossible Book, is based on field research from an actual project. I was a participant in that project, as a minor participant (VP,Program Management for a small set of programs).
