When we hear descriptons of Dilbert style management, with posting and reposting Dilbert cartons showing pointy haired bosses Doing Stupid Things on Purpose and no actionable advice on how to take corrective actions - then you know for sure the poster is just whinning - move on nothing of value here.
Addressing programs we all encounter in the project management work, means answering - with the % Whys - real 5 whys, not just the suggestion of the 5 whys - the symptom, the problem, and the root cause in the broad categories of:
- Process
- Tools
- Training
- Environment
- Communication
- Management
Only with the answers to these categories in the three classes of assessment - what's the symptom, what's the problem that that produces the symptom, and what is the root cause of the problem - can corrective actions start.
None of this available - the conversation is a non-starter.
