When we hear we can make decisions about the future without estimating the impact from those decision or using only small sample, non-statistically adjusted measures, or ignore the stochastic behaviors of the past and the future we'll be ion the loosing end of the shot on goal.
There simply is no way out of the need to estimate the future for any non-trivial project funded by other peoples money. Trivial project? Our own money? Act as you wish. No one cares what you do. Make a suggestion it works somewhere else, better come to the table with some testable data independent of personal anecdotes.
