Facts are disturbing
When there is an unsubstantiated conjecture, and the facts are presented, those making the conjecture with an understanding that facts inform the conversation usually response with that's interesting what do you mean, I haven't heard that suggestion before. Those who have a position independent of the facts, usually respond with you're wrong and stop telling I'm not informed.
