This is on the opening page of Queuing Systems, Volume 1: Theory. Lenord Kleinrock. This was a mandatory course in the early 80's at TRW when working on missile defense system software (FORTRAN 77). Of course, those queues M/G/1 was my favorite all had random variables for arrival rates and services rates, each requiring estimating to be made of not only those variables, but the Probability Distribution Functions to confirm that matched the needed preconditions to fit M/G/1
