Logic will never change emotion or perception - Edward de Bono
I belong to a community of Debunker’s of bad project management and software development processes, dedicated to exposing the myths and misconceptions of good project management and software development methods that can and should take place when spending other people’s money to produce Value from the project—advocating for proven evidence-based management methods. These myths range from estimating complex systems and software-intensive system of systems, risk management, and core project management principles.
We take action when we see misinformation - communicating research-based best-practice information. We come together as a community to learn, to support each other, and to share sources of information. Some of this sharing takes place at conferences and some takes place on the web.
We welcome project management and software development professionals—whether in the workplace or education forums—who are dedicated to sharing valid evidence-based best practices that can be applied to increase the probability of success for software development efforts.
We belong to a variety of professional organizations in our community dedicated to increasing the probability of project success. These include ICEAA, AACE, PMI, IEEE, ACM, PSM, guided by ISO 12207 and ISO 15939, DO-178-C, 21CFR Part 11.
Many in the internet community will not come in contact with these guides, but there is a very large group of firms and providers to those firms that are critically interested in increasing the probability of success using good practices and processes based on principles. These principles, processes, and practices can be applied across a wide range of domains. Not all, but a large section of software development that ends up in trouble - late, over budget, and poor technical solutions - can be corrected and prevented with straightforward principles and the processes and practices.
