When I was reading The Manhattan Project and came across a statement that resonated with me.
Dr. Vannevar Bush (George Bush senior’s father and George W. Bush’s grandfather) was assigned the role to lead the development of the atomic bomb during WWII. He picked General Leslie Groves to manage that project.
Bush was characterized as a man of sober thoughts, who took special delight in pricking inflated technical claims.
I connected with that view of the world and continue to question anyone making inflated claims in the absence of tangible evidence and the principles on which that claim stands.
